First of all I really regretted using those so called free auto-follow tools. I just ended up keeping junk users who doesn't know how to return the favor. Worst, some that were automatically followed are spammers. Others which I just found out recently, where no longer active or has been deleted. I tried looking for auto-unfollow tools but to no avail. Only to find out that Twitter disabled the bulk un-following of users. The best thing we could now is resort to old conventional way.
As of posting I am currently unfollowing more than 1000 non-followers. So I thought of sharing this. This should work with non-techie users.
Just follow this simple steps and you should be firing up in no time clearing up all those non-followers.
1. I used a very useful tool to determine who are those you'ved followed but doesn't follow you back. Go here: http://friendorfollow.com/. Enter your Twitter username or email and then click submit.
2.The FriendorFollow will then populate all those you've followed but doesn't follow you back. If you have thousands of them, it will surely take a while. Just grab a cup of coffee. Everyone should be loaded by then when you come back.
3. When everyone has been loaded up, you should get the total number of unfollowers with actual preview of their profile's icons. Some users that no longer exist are marked X. Now to unfollow a user, proceed by right-clicking the user and then select "Open Link in New Window". Now repeat this process up to 20 to 30 users or up to the capacity that your computer can handle.
3. The opened link should now piled up in your browser's tab. Click on the first user tab. After this, we should now use your mouse for unfollowing and your keyboard to proceed to the next tab.
4. Click on the option button somewhere below the user's name and then select Unfollow. Do not wait for the Follow status to change just proceed to the next step. It will eventually change.
5. To proceed to the next user, on your keyboard, press Ctrl+Tab. This will bring you to the next tab and then repeat step 4.
6. Repeat step 5 until you reach the last user. When this is done. Start closing those open tabs and go back to the opened FriendorFollow website and then select another set of users to unfollow. Repeat until done or until your hands can handle the pressing and clicking of your mouse and keyboard. I hope this helps.
