How To Get Higher Alexa Rating?

Posted by Guy Radaza on Monday, January 25, 2010

Alexa LogoWhen I started blogging almost three months ago, I could remember that my Alexa rating is way way farther than expected. I was not even on the top 100 million. A friend told me that his rank before was at the billion level. I found out that you need to do some effort to get your rank at Alexa. So how important is Alexa rating? To some, this may not be a big deal but for the serious blogger like me, it means a lot to get to the top. while we enjoy blogging, we cannot also deny the fact that we can also earn while doing the things that we like to do. It does make a lot of sense right?

So how do we earn while blogging? This is how Alexa rating gets in. We need to attract investors to advertise with us. One great attraction to convince investors is through our Alexa rating. The higher your rank, the greater chances of getting hired. I did my own thing to get more traffic to my website. Those things were not enough though. But at least it brought me to the three million level after three weeks of effort. I would credit my effort through joining Social Networking websites, Blog forums, and to free URL submissions.

I was told by a friend how to get to the top or at least at the hundred thousand level. He was once at the billion level and is now at the 200 thousand rankings. I will be sharing his techniques not because I have tried and have proven it but crossing my fingers that I would also get to the top ranks using it.

So here goes his tips on how to get higher ranks at Alexa:
1. Insert Alexa Widget : You need to have one installed on your Blog or Website. To get the widget, login to your Alexa account or create an account if you don't have one yet. Go to the "For Site Owners" tab and proceed to the Widget section.

2. Installing Alexa Toolbar : This is a must. Install Alexa toolbar and set your Blog or Website as your homepage.

3. Keep Your Blog Updated: 3 to 5 times a week will do but if you can do it daily, would be much better.

4. Post About Alexa: Just a short review or something like this will do.

5. Ping Your Blog or Website Everyday: Or at least with every update you make. You can try PingOmatic.

And I would like to add my own which I believe has done its share helping me climb up to the 3 million mark.
6. Join Social Networking Websites like Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Blog Forums. You can post your latest blog updates with them. This will add more exposures and more visits to your Blog.
7. Finally, don't forget to submit your Blog to free URL submission websites.

I am currently at the 3.6 million mark. Mind you it was 3.7 million last week. Let's see if this will continue to bring me up to the ladder. Wanna catch up with me?
