How To Integrate Your Gmail Accounts In One Mailbox?

Posted by Guy Radaza on Saturday, January 30, 2010

As the title suggest, this is possible with Gmail. And not only that. You will also have the ability to send and receive emails without having to shift from different accounts by logging in and out. This is another way of dealing multiple Gmail accounts without having to use several internet browsers.

How to do that in Gmail?
Adding the email to the main account.
1. Log in to the account where you wanted to integrate all your other accounts.
2. On the upper right, click on "Settings".
3. Settings Tabs will appear. Select "Accounts and Imports".

4. Click on the "Add POP3 email account" button.
5. A new window will pop. Enter the email address and then click Next.

6. For username, enter the same email address. Enter the password. Select "pop.gmail.com" and port 995 for POP Server. Do not tick the "Leave a copy of retrieved messages". Tick "Always use a secure connection". Tick "Archive incoming message. Ticket "Label incoming message". On the pull-down menu select "New Label". Enter the Label name and click OK. All incoming messages from this email will automatically go straight to that folder or label.

7. Click "Add Account".
8. You will be prompted to have the ability to "send email as" as an option. Click on "Next Step".
9. Enter the email account name.
10. You will then be asked to send a verification code to that email. Click on the "Send Verification" button.
11. Close the window.
12. Check the email you just added and confirm the link to verify the account.

Setting up the remote email
1. After verifying the email account, go to Settings and then select "Forwarding and POP/IMAP"
2. Disable Forwarding.
3. Under POP Download options, Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on. When messages are accessed with POP, select "delete Gmail's copy".
4. Click on the "Save Changes" button.

Repeat the procedure for the other Gmail accounts you wanted to add.

Globe Tattoo Firmware Upgrade With Call Feature

Posted by Guy Radaza on Thursday, January 28, 2010

(The Texts a copied from the Globe Tattoo website. I just thought of sharing since I also have an old Tattoo sticks needing upgrade).
The all-new Globe Tattoo USB stick now gives you the ability to send text messages, and make and receive calls via your computer. The same speed, reliability, and coverage you have come to expect from Globe can now help you make calls and send text messages when and where you need them the most. To activate the PC call function on your Globe Tattoo stick, you should upgrade the firmware of the device.

Why Upgrade Your Globe Tattoo?
Firmware is what keeps the Globe Tattoo stick running, and what helps the computer recognize the device. Your Globe Tattoo already comes with firmware pre-installed on it, but the existing firmware on your device does not allow you to make calls or send SMS. The upgrade process replaces the existing firmware in the USB device with a new one that allows you to call and send texts. The upgrade process includes the dashboard, and enables you to call and text through the Tattoo dashboard.

Go to the Globe Tattoo website for more details and to download the Software Upgrade.

GreasemonkeyI have 3 Gmail accounts and wanted to check on each of them whenever I am online. I used 3 different Internet browsers to be able to do that. Otherwise, I'll have to logout from email1 to be able to login to email2. And logout to email2 to be able to check on email3. But most of the time, I need to check back on the 3 emails. You could just imagine the hastle and not to mention the time wasted shifting from one email to another. But I thought using 3 browsers is the wisest thing to do. I forgot to consider the benefit of tab browsing. I see myself looking back the old times opening multiple browsers clogging up my task bar.

I am a big fan of Firefox but because of this, I am force to consider Internet Explorer with the help Safari to get things done. I looked around and found this handy Firefox Add-on called IETab. It's an Internet Explorer inside Firefox tabs. Well, this cuts down my need for Internet Browsers to 2. But as much I wanted to maximize my time, I also wanted to explore the full potential of what my favorite Internet browser can offer without having to inject another browser inside. I don't know if there's Safari tab add-on available.

Getting over this, I finally found an ultimate solution to my needs - Gmail Login Switcher. This script has the ability to switch from different accounts in less than a minute. It does eliminates the hassle of having to login/logout to be able to switch on different accounts. Slight changes will happen to your Gmail account. The "Sign out" link located at the upper right corner will be replaced by a pull down menu containing the different accounts and some other options.

There's a little bit of complexity in setting this up. I'll try to make this simple. Please bear in mind that this will only work in Firefox.

1. Go to Greasemonkey add-on website.
2. At the website, click on the green "Add to Firefox" button.
Multiple Gmail Accounts

2. A new window will pop. Just click on the install button when it's ready to be clicked.
Multiple Gmail Accounts

3. It will then proceed with the installation. Upon completion, it will require you to restart Firefox. Click on the restart button.
Multiple Gmail Accounts

4. You should be able to see the monkey icon somewhere on the lower right of your browser. If the monkey icon is grayed out, just click on it.
Multiple Gmail Accounts

5. Now forget what you just did. Let's install the Gmail Account Multi-Login Script for GreaseMonkey. Get the Script here. At the website, click on the green "Install" button.
Multiple Gmail Accounts

6. Another window will pop. Click on the "Install" button when it's ready to be clicked. The installation will require you to restart Firefox.
Multiple Gmail Accounts

7. After the restart, login to one of your Gmail accounts. Notice on the upper right of the window. The "Sign out" is now being replaced by a pull-down menu.

8. We will now add your other Gmail accounts. Click on the pull-down menu and select "Add Account".
Multiple Gmail Accounts

9. It will first prompt you to enter the Username.
Multiple Gmail Accounts

10. Then the password. You'll have to enter the password if you wanted the account to auto log-on when selected or just leave blank if you wanted to be prompted for a password every time the account is selected.
Multiple Gmail Accounts

11. Having entered the correct password, the account will automatically log in when selected.
Multiple Gmail Accounts

12. Repeat steps 8 to 11 for the rest of your Gmail accounts. Switch between accounts by just selecting them on the pull-down menu. Depending on your Internet speed, you should be able to switch between accounts in less than a minute.

Restrict Applications On A User-Based Policy in Windows XP

Posted by Guy Radaza on Wednesday, January 27, 2010

RegistryThis is one of the great features why Windows XP remains powerful. Having to administer more than 100 computers, I find this trick useful to keep the computers in good shape. This will also apply to office environment wherein you need to restrict certain applications on a user based policy. Let's just say on a particular PC there are 2 users but the 2 of them have different access rights to all of the programs installed. Each user should only be able to access certain applications they are allowed to. For example: user 1 is an administrator and should have full access to all programs installed. But user 2 only needs to use the MS Office applications. Any other applications like Internet Explorer, Messenger and others should be restricted.  This particular setup is possible with Windows Registry.

But before we proceed with Registry tweaking, make sure that the two user login are created and active.

How to do it using Registry.
1. Login to the user where to apply the restrictions. Open Windows Registry and go to this key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\]
2. Right-click on the Explorer key and create a new DWORD value named "DisallowRun".

3. Double-click on the new key and then enter "1" to the Value Data.
4. Go to this key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\]
5. Right click the Explorer key and  create a new key named "RestrictRun".
6. Right-click the RestrictRun key and create a new String Value named "1".
7. Double-click the created String Value "1" and then enter the program executable to restrict. e.g. for Yahoo Messenger enter "YahooMessenger.exe".
8. If you want to restrict another program let's say Paint Brush, create another String Value by incrementing 1 to the next number which is "2" and then enter "pbrush.exe".
9. Just increment the last String Value for the next program you want to restrict and verify it's program executable to its installed folder located at c:\Program Files\

This trick also applies to Windows 7. Happy Tweaking!

How To Get Higher Alexa Rating?

Posted by Guy Radaza on Monday, January 25, 2010

Alexa LogoWhen I started blogging almost three months ago, I could remember that my Alexa rating is way way farther than expected. I was not even on the top 100 million. A friend told me that his rank before was at the billion level. I found out that you need to do some effort to get your rank at Alexa. So how important is Alexa rating? To some, this may not be a big deal but for the serious blogger like me, it means a lot to get to the top. while we enjoy blogging, we cannot also deny the fact that we can also earn while doing the things that we like to do. It does make a lot of sense right?

So how do we earn while blogging? This is how Alexa rating gets in. We need to attract investors to advertise with us. One great attraction to convince investors is through our Alexa rating. The higher your rank, the greater chances of getting hired. I did my own thing to get more traffic to my website. Those things were not enough though. But at least it brought me to the three million level after three weeks of effort. I would credit my effort through joining Social Networking websites, Blog forums, and to free URL submissions.

I was told by a friend how to get to the top or at least at the hundred thousand level. He was once at the billion level and is now at the 200 thousand rankings. I will be sharing his techniques not because I have tried and have proven it but crossing my fingers that I would also get to the top ranks using it.

So here goes his tips on how to get higher ranks at Alexa:
1. Insert Alexa Widget : You need to have one installed on your Blog or Website. To get the widget, login to your Alexa account or create an account if you don't have one yet. Go to the "For Site Owners" tab and proceed to the Widget section.

2. Installing Alexa Toolbar : This is a must. Install Alexa toolbar and set your Blog or Website as your homepage.

3. Keep Your Blog Updated: 3 to 5 times a week will do but if you can do it daily, would be much better.

4. Post About Alexa: Just a short review or something like this will do.

5. Ping Your Blog or Website Everyday: Or at least with every update you make. You can try PingOmatic.

And I would like to add my own which I believe has done its share helping me climb up to the 3 million mark.
6. Join Social Networking Websites like Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Blog Forums. You can post your latest blog updates with them. This will add more exposures and more visits to your Blog.
7. Finally, don't forget to submit your Blog to free URL submission websites.

I am currently at the 3.6 million mark. Mind you it was 3.7 million last week. Let's see if this will continue to bring me up to the ladder. Wanna catch up with me?
