I have 3 Gmail accounts and wanted to check on each of them whenever I am online. I used 3 different Internet browsers to be able to do that. Otherwise, I'll have to logout from email1 to be able to login to email2. And logout to email2 to be able to check on email3. But most of the time, I need to check back on the 3 emails. You could just imagine the hastle and not to mention the time wasted shifting from one email to another. But I thought using 3 browsers is the wisest thing to do. I forgot to consider the benefit of tab browsing. I see myself looking back the old times opening multiple browsers clogging up my task bar.
I am a big fan of Firefox but because of this, I am force to consider Internet Explorer with the help Safari to get things done. I looked around and found this handy Firefox Add-on called IETab. It's an Internet Explorer inside Firefox tabs. Well, this cuts down my need for Internet Browsers to 2. But as much I wanted to maximize my time, I also wanted to explore the full potential of what my favorite Internet browser can offer without having to inject another browser inside. I don't know if there's Safari tab add-on available.
Getting over this, I finally found an ultimate solution to my needs - Gmail Login Switcher. This script has the ability to switch from different accounts in less than a minute. It does eliminates the hassle of having to login/logout to be able to switch on different accounts. Slight changes will happen to your Gmail account. The "Sign out" link located at the upper right corner will be replaced by a pull down menu containing the different accounts and some other options.
There's a little bit of complexity in setting this up. I'll try to make this simple. Please bear in mind that this will only work in Firefox.
1. Go to Greasemonkey add-on website.
2. At the website, click on the green "Add to Firefox" button.
2. A new window will pop. Just click on the install button when it's ready to be clicked.
3. It will then proceed with the installation. Upon completion, it will require you to restart Firefox. Click on the restart button.
4. You should be able to see the monkey icon somewhere on the lower right of your browser. If the monkey icon is grayed out, just click on it.
5. Now forget what you just did. Let's install the Gmail Account Multi-Login Script for GreaseMonkey. Get the Script here. At the website, click on the green "Install" button.
6. Another window will pop. Click on the "Install" button when it's ready to be clicked. The installation will require you to restart Firefox.
7. After the restart, login to one of your Gmail accounts. Notice on the upper right of the window. The "Sign out" is now being replaced by a pull-down menu.
8. We will now add your other Gmail accounts. Click on the pull-down menu and select "Add Account".
9. It will first prompt you to enter the Username.
10. Then the password. You'll have to enter the password if you wanted the account to auto log-on when selected or just leave blank if you wanted to be prompted for a password every time the account is selected.
11. Having entered the correct password, the account will automatically log in when selected.
12. Repeat steps 8 to 11 for the rest of your Gmail accounts. Switch between accounts by just selecting them on the pull-down menu. Depending on your Internet speed, you should be able to switch between accounts in less than a minute.
