Setup Vanity URLs for your Facebook Fan Page

Posted by Guy Radaza on Thursday, January 14, 2010

Facebook LogoWhen Facebook changes it's policy regarding the Vanity URLs'setup requirements since the end of May 2009, there have been mixed emotions of dismay and satisfaction between old and new Fan Page owners. Gathering around 1,000 fans before you can setup a custom vanity URLs is quite an effort. It was then lowered down to 100 and 25.

So what is this vanity URL? My kOrAbTech Blog fan page used to have this long URL:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Korab-Tech-Blog/123458796545
and now:
http://www.facebook.com/korabtech

Here is how I did it. But before we can proceed, please consider the following:
1. You need to have Admin rights to the Fan Page.
2. The Fan Page must have at least 25 fans.

How to setup the Vanity URL to your Fan Page:
1.Log in to your Facebook account. Open a new browser tab and go to this url: http://www.facebook.com/username
2. Click the "Set a username" thumbnail.
Set Username
3. You will be prompted to select the name of the page to configure. Enter your preferred name. If the name is available, you can forever keep that name.
Select Page Name

For now, there's no way we can change the name once it is being assigned to your page. I hope this helps.
